Looking for ways to decorate your outdoor space? Here is some of the best outdoor furniture and decor to enjoy your indoor / outdoor spaces.
Oh…March in Maryland.
One day you are playing in snow…
And the next…
You are playing in potting soil and planting pansies.
My March weather preference?
I am firmly planted in the field of full stop flower power preference. 🙂
In case that was not already apparent in my Spring Home Tour, that I shared last week.
Yes, flowers are one of my favorite ways to decorate and celebrate the appearance of sunnier seasons around our home.
And now?
With the calendar days officially signaling us to warmer days and longer stretches of light to linger outside?
I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my favorite outdoor furniture and decor that we enjoy on our patio. (Linking everything I can at the bottom of this post)
And?
I am also sharing a mood board concept design from a recent Home with Heather client who wanted help decorating her new sunroom.
So, if you too have Spring fever and are looking for inspiration to start decorating your outdoor and indoor spaces for warmer days ahead?
This post is for you.
If you have been around since last Spring, then you are already familiar with the history and story of how we tore down our large deck and replaced it with this larger stamped concrete patio to maximize the potential for our outdoor space.
Side note – I bought this indoor /outdoor rug under our dining table, last year from Lowe’s and just love it – I researched neutral, flat woven rug for a long time last Spring and this one was by far my favorite and a great price too.
It is back in stock now, but I would not sleep on this rug if you are in need of a larger area rug for your outdoor space, these styles and sizes sell out quickly!
Tearing down our deck and putting in this patio ranks right up there with one of our “Top Ten Home Improvements” we have made to our builder grade 1990’s home.
And if you’re curious or looking for more “Ways to make your builder grade home look and feel like a Custom Home“…here are 13 home improvement ideas we have done over the years to our home.
But this patio?
Putting in our patio and the built in fire pit was hands down one of our best decisions ever.
You can see all the pictures of the before and after of our deck removal and patio installation, and get more outdoor Spring inspiration (along with a word nugget of encouragement) here in this post.
Now…
Are you ready to see the “before and after” of one of my Home with Heather client’s?
This client happens to be a realtor and has been keeping me busy with not only decorating her home but also staging her real estate listings. 🙂 So fun!

Under Construction Sunroom
Here is the After!
Yay!!
Here is what my client, Katie had to say about her Home with Heather experience:
“I can’t say enough about Heather’s interior design skills and eye for detail. I initially reached out to Heather for assistance with our new outdoor living space and we held a virtual consult via Facetime. After our virtual meeting she sent me an amazing design board and at that point I knew I needed her in-person skills too! Heather came to our house and we spent an entire day reimagining, refiguring and rethinking my living space. She was masterful at using items I already had, but one of the highlights was that afterwards she sent me links to all of the design items I still needed to continue to “warm up” the house – a curated shopping list, complete with explanations for where everything should go! I am loving how it’s all coming together and am excited to work with Heather on additional home design projects! Thank you Heather!!”
Insert happy dance!
If you are loving Katie’s new sunroom…there is good news!
Below, is Katie’s updated mood board concept, and I have linked all of the furniture and decor accessories at the very bottom of this post for easy shopping to help you love up on your indoor and outdoor spaces, so that you too can be prepared to enjoy sunny days ahead!
Linking a few client favorites here, for easy reference:
Katie is loving the Beachcroft outdoor sectional, which is available here on Overstock as a 5 piece set and also here on Ashley Furniture as a 3 piece set. While Katie uses this sectional inside, in her sunroom, I have another client who has the same Beachcroft sectional and enjoys it outside on their deck.
Katie has also remarked how much she is loving this ivory and grey nuLOOM indoor / outdoor rug in this space from Home Depot, along with the coffee table from Ashley and table top decor from Target, all linked above.
If you are in the market for a small space outdoor dining set…
This is the cutest table and chairs set from the reputable Hampton Bay line at Home Depot, comes in a variety of colors at a bargain price for the full set.
I just love these chairs!
Speaking of chairs!
Moving on to my personal favorites that we own and love…
We bought this “zero-gravity” reclining chair from Amazon two years ago for my Mom as a birthday gift and I think I will let her smile do the talking. (My Mom hired the same contractor to put the same style stamped concrete patio in her backyard.)
She loves to lay back and close her eyes on her patio in this zero-gravity chair…they are incredibly comfy and would make a great Mother’s or Father’s Day gift. 🙂
We also love these Adirondack chairs around our fire pit!
We also have had two of these chairs from Target in light gray for the last several years and use them with a cushion, as head chairs to our outdoor dining table.
Now, this is one of my favorite things to enjoy outside…our fire pit.
While we enjoy using our built in fire pit, especially for evening, family movie nights on the patio…
We also really love using this propane fire pit on the other end of the patio!
We have been using this propane fire pit from Wayfair for the last year on nights when we just want to come outside for a short bit of time…and we just can’t quit it!
SO EASY!
Oh yes!
You may remember that after the patio season ended last Fall, I moved this tufted cream indoor / outdoor rug, pictured above…inside!!
You can see how this rug from Target looks in my home office now, after I moved it inside, here in this post!
I am still loving how this indoor / outdoor rug looks inside…so I might just need to shop for a new outdoor rug for this conversation space, on this end of the patio. 🙂
Well friend, there you have it!
I hope this post helped to inspire you to start cleaning out those flower beds and start spreading a few bags of mulch like we did yesterday…
(Just noticed that our rocking chairs (pictured above) on our front porch are 20% off right now, linking them HERE.)
There is something about putting in the work now, spending time in the soil, all in effort to re-awaken those outdoor spaces, that gets me through this wacky weather that is called – March in Maryland.
Because?
Because, I know nights like these are not too far away…
Almost forgot!
I LOVE these solar jar lids with fairy lights dangling from the lid, that screw on top of mason jars!
We have used these solar mason lids on our patio for two years now and even taken them to the beach for a beach bonfire to help see a path on the beach at night. I love the ambiance they add to a Summer night!
While on the topic of summer lights at night, I often am asked about our patio string lights, linking them here.
And?
I just noticed when I searched my Amazon history that we ordered these string lights in 2016 and they are still going strong!! We leave them up all year round, through rain, snow and ice! Highly recommend these string lights!
I could go on and on you see…
about my love of Summer nights spent on the patio…they are just SO good for the soul.
But, this is where I will leave you…so that you have time to get your own porch polishing done and sprucing up for Spring days just ahead.
Living on a prayer,
Heather

Hi Heather, where did you get your outdoor rectangular table? Your patio looks amazing!!!
Thank you Julie! Our rectangular farmhouse style outdoor dining table is from World Market! We bought it several years ago with the bench seat and I added the additional dining chairs from Target! Is that what you were asking about?
Yes, I am currently looking for something similar with chairs or table separate and chairs separate (I am ok with a mixed look like you have. I also need a whole for the umbrella 🙂 Thank you.
You are welcome! 🙂
