Looking for easy ways to update your bedroom? Here are ideas on how to update bedding, drapery, small decor and more for a bedroom refresh.
I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend friend!
Sometimes I find myself shying away from sharing much on social on Mother’s Day…
But, I did share this quick pic that we snapped right after we walked out of our beautiful church service.
I know Mother’s Day has the potential to be a sensitive holiday for many reasons for many people…
And so?
I think this is the main reason why, I consciously lean into celebrating this particular holiday –
more quietly.
Soaking it in with less distraction and noise, with a deeply grateful heart for the blessings God has given us.
I hope you felt loved on Mother’s Day…however you chose to celebrate.
I am SO glad that you loved this post that I shared over the weekend, all about “What I’m Loving Right Now” in May!
There is a lot to love right now!
Including my love for my blooming pink peonies!
I know you know! 🙂
But truly, I have never met a pink peony I don’t love.
And as you probably are already aware –
You have to max out your enjoyment while you can!
Because their beautiful season is just too short!
Which is why I snuck a vase full of them, upstairs on Shawn’s nightstand, only for him to come home and tell me that the aroma was too strong for his sensitive nose! 🙂
So, I moved them to my nightstand! 🙂
In my round up of “What I’m Loving Right Now”, I shared this new chunky knit throw blanket from Target, that I picked up last week, to add to the fluff factor at the bottom of our bed.
And now?
Now, I am making my plan for the rest of our master bedroom bedding refresh!
Because, this throw blanket was just the beginning!
Once Shawn is finished painting the ceiling in our bedroom and wrapping up all of the trim and baseboard work…he will pass the project baton to me – for decorating! 🙂
Today on the blog, I am sharing the new bedding and bedroom decor that I am currently considering, to give our bedroom a coastal sanctuary vibe along with the new room darkening pinch pleat drapes I ordered from Amazon!
So, if you are looking for an easy way to update your bedroom, or are in the market for new bedding or bedroom accessory decor –
This post is for you!
An easy bedding, drapery and bedroom decor refresh awaits!

Here Is The New Bedding & More I Have My Eye On For Our Bedroom Refresh
First thing is first.
My personal recipe for cozy bedding goes like this:
Super soft sheets.
Pretty quilt.
Fluffy plain duvet with insert double folded towards the end of the bed.
Chunky soft throw blanket layered on top of the duvet.
Pillows!
Now, while we are smack dab in the middle of this bedroom refresh…
This is what you need to know about the above picture.
There are things that are going and things that are staying.
The metal bench is going.
The bed is staying.
For now...
We bought our bed 15 years ago, when we moved into our house.
While I have plenty of coastal inspired beds that have caught my eye recently…we have other items we want to spend our money on right now. (Think HOT TUB 🙂
We haven’t bought one yet…but had fun shopping with the girls over the weekend.
I think we are getting closer to taking the plunge! :). (I couldn’t resist that one!)
I digress.
Back to bedding.
The wonderful fact about bedding is that updating the layers of bedding is an easy and affordable way to give your bedroom an instant refresh without the expense or commitment of buying a new bed or furniture.
Pro Tip: I am a big believer in starting with a neutral grounding base when it comes to well...almost everything!
When we start with a neutral base, it allows the opportunity to introduce more personality through the addition of different textures and colors using more decorative pieces that can be easily swapped out throughout the year.
Here are the layers of bedding that I am currently eyeing up to refresh our bed for Spring and Summer.
Starting with…
SUPER SOFT SHEETS
These Super Soft Sheets in white. (Available in every color under the sun.)
I already have these exact sheets in a few colors and patterns, on all of the beds in our home.
SLEEPING PILLOWS
You might remember from this older “What I’m Loving Right Now” post from January, when Shawn ordered himself this COOP Memory Foam Pillow and called it “life-changing.” 🙂
I didn’t believe him until he also ordered me one and now we both have “I sleep with Coop” pillows and they are truly amazing!
Another highly recommended sleeping pillow from Amazon is this set of two down alternative pillows with gel cooling for sleepers who easily overheat.
QUILTS
I am considering this Cross Stitch Quilt from Walmart in either white or taupe.
If I order the quilt, I will also order a set of these Cross Stitch Euro Pillow Shams to match.
Either way this designer looking quilt and Pottery Barn quilt dupe has definitely caught my eye!
I am also loving the Block Style Patterns that are all the rage right now.
Currently eyeing this block print quilt and matching shams from Target.
Still in the process of deciding on a quilt!
DECORATIVE PILLOWS
If I add this block print quilt and shams, I will add two of these King Euro Shams and two of these 26″ x 26″ chambray decorative throw pillows on top in warm brown.
Either way, after I pull the sheets and the quilt all the way up full and flat, I plan to layer the bottom of the bed with a duvet and duvet insert by double folding the duvet at the bottom of the bed for an extra fluffy and inviting look.
DUVET & DUVET INSERT
Looking at This Linen Duvet Cover Set – Amazon
With This White Down Alternative All Season Duvet Insert – Amazon
And finally?
CHUNKY KNIT THROW BLANKET
I will add my new chunky knit blanket (available in multiple colors from Target) on top of the duvet, to lay across the end of our bed, because I always use an extra top layer on my side of the bed.
This Chunky Knit Bed Blanket – Target
ABOVE THE BED ART
I also have been looking at new art work for above the bed.
I love that Lindsay Letters offers an entire collection specifically geared towards art work to hang above the bed.
You can see all of Lindsay Letters art for above the bed HERE.
I am loving This Wide Lens Sparkling Water canvas by Lindsay Letters.
I also love This Petals Under Water Canvas, which I think would compliment the room’s accent paint color of Boothbay Gray by Benjamin Moore.
Or, I might go with something a little less abstract, like this coastal framed wall art canvas from Target.
FULL LENGTH MIRROR
Also eyeing up this arched mirror from Amazon.
This Full Length Arched Mirror
And this upholstered bench for the end of the bed from Target.
Or this Rounded Cream Bench, also from Target.
Our bedroom window treatments are in need of attention.
WOVEN WINDOW SHADE
We are planning to remove the faux wood blinds and replace them with woven roman shades.
We have this exact woven shade x 3 in the bay window at our beach condo.
You can see them hanging in our beach condo, HERE, at the end of this blog post.
Still trying to find the correct size for our double window. Might have to custom order – stay tuned!
*UPDATE TO POST! I ordered THIS woven Roman shade in our custom size we needed and added a blackout liner! WE LOVE IT. You can see our bedroom window with woven shade and room darkening curtains HERE in this post.
PINCH PLEAT CURTAIN DRAPES
I DID just order these Pinch Pleat Drapes in the Beige White color option from Amazon.
CURTAIN ROD & DRAPERY CLIP RINGS
I also already ordered This Gold Curtain Rod to use with These Gold Curtain Clip Rings.
We have this exact best selling gold curtain rod already in our dining room, above our sliding door, pictured below.
Ok friend!
That’s a bedroom refresh planning wrap!
I hope you enjoyed the bedding, drapery and master bedroom refresh plans that I am currently working out in the nooks and crannies of my day! 🙂
Can’t wait to share how it all comes together with you sometime very soon! 🙂
Living on a prayer,
Heather
