Summer Kitchen Decor & What You Need To Know About Making A Summer Bucket List of Behaviors

Looking for Summer kitchen decorating ideas? Here are some ideas for decorating your kitchen and an idea about Summer Bucket List Behaviors.

Last night we hosted our small group.

And honestly?

The idea of hosting company was the kick in the pants I needed to reset our household.

Do you feel me? 🙂

Let’s just say…

Things have been a medium blend of part chaos, part exhaustion lately.

Has it been a lot for you too lately?

I think that is why when Summer sun beams start to stream in through the kitchen…

I like to take a a backseat and let them have their party.

Who needs a lot of decor…when Summer shows up and speaks for herself?

Yes, Summer shows up, waves her hand as if to signal…

This is the season where you can let go now…I am here.

Less is more, especially on the inside of our homes.

After all?

This is the season, to play outside.

Our daughters wrap up their school year this Thursday.

And tomorrow?

Our middle daughter, Maci will graduate from elementary school.

I can hardly believe it.

I feel like I just wrote this post about wrapping up our year of home-school, last year and refreshing our garage mudroom for Summertime.

Next year, we will have two daughters in middle school, while Livvy holds down the elementary school front.

WOW.

Where does the time go?

Summer Kitchen Decor & What You Need To Know About Making A Summer Bucket List of Behaviors

Every year, when I decorate our kitchen for Summer, I notice myself craving cleared off counter tops and minimal kitchen island decor…just like I shared HERE, in this post last year.

My best guess as to why I love a simple kitchen and fresh kitchen hand towel in the Summer…is that I have high hopes to transfer the simple and refreshing feeling of ease…to my brain.

I think this might also explain why, when the end of a school year season shows up…

I crave the pace of a purposeful pause.

A need to digest the turn of the page, before we run head first into the beckoning ocean waves of fun in the sun.

Because really?

What I have come to learn about myself is, that what I need in Summer is different from what I need or look to during all of the other starts of a new season.

The Summer season requests and really requires something different of me…and it’s up to me to acknowledge that and accept that what has worked for the last 10 months, may not work for the next 2 months.

Summer suggests to me…

A simpler and relaxed bending that is different from the Spring posture that I needed in March.

A softer place to land, versus the fresh start, New Year mindset of January.

And a take a chill pill – time out that beats differently against the forced framework of Fall.

And so?

After I parked my car in the grocery store lot today –

I pulled out my phone and tapped out this quick list of words that came quickly to my mind, when I asked myself this question:

“What do I need right now...in Summer?“

So friend –

This is my personal list of what my body, heart and mind are informing me I need right now.

Because something I do know is this.

Your body tells the truth.

It’s up to us to listen.

If anything, perhaps my personal Summer bucket list of behaviors will prompt you to make your own version of:

Summer Bucket List of Behaviors

This is what my Summer Bucket Behavior List looks like:

Simple.

Easy.

Break in expectations. (Both of myself and of my family.)

Less is more mindset.

Freedom.

Playfulness.

Openness.

Letting go of unreasonableness.

Rest.

Better Rest.

A different kind rest.

A SOUL rest.

A RE-SET of sorts.

Also, I am looking forward to…

Sounds of Bullfrogs

Flickers of fireflies.

Streaks of shooting stars.

Sounds of crashing of waves.

Sandy feet.

And?

Embracing the magic that is…

Delighting in whatever it is that is right in front of me.

Here’s to cleared off counter tops and clarified minds to inform us of what we need right now…

in Summer.

And friend?

We have a good guide who will whisper what we need.

Stay quiet, stay close.

Let Him guide you and grow you, as you lean in and listen to what the season ahead holds for you.

Living on a prayer,

Heather

Dear Lord,

Thank You for making a way for me to know you personally.

Thank You that You are un-changeable, unstoppable and all powerful.

As the seasons change and Summer begins, please align my heart with Your heart and my will with Your will. Teach me Your ways.

Amen.
