While Spring is still thinking about springing here in Maryland with temperatures bouncing up and down…the activity and excitement thermometer is definitely warming up and staying there!!
Last week was such a fun week both personally and professionally!
We capped up an exciting professional week with this BIG WIN in Williamsburg, Virginia, for our oldest daughter’s soccer team who won the elite and coveted Jefferson Cup.

So fun!
However, I am not going to stay here long.
Because…
Well, because this girl turns 13 next Wednesday…
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6171-768x1024.jpg)
And I can already feel my eyes starting to do that thing and that little burning in my nose that happens when I am trying to hold back the waters.
I am so grateful for this one on one time that Shawn and I were able to soak in with Eve last weekend…a wrinkle in time…made more visible with her looming Birthday.
Next week’s blog posts should be interesting. Stay tuned for my thoughts on this milestone birthday we are about to celebrate for our first daughter.
But before all that soccer excitement?
There was a lot of excitement professionally throughout the week!
Thank you for all of your kind words of encouragement, support for all the things happening right now!
To recap, last week I had my second published work launch into the world over at the lovely Club 31 Women. These writing opportunities on Christian platforms, meant to serve as an encouragement to their readers are so humbling.

I am so grateful for opportunities to write devotionals like this and this for Club 31 Women.
After that excitement on Monday?
My interview dropped on this podcast episode last Thursday.
It was so fun to share my interview with our girls. We streamed it on my phone and listened to it while in the car, as I drove them to lacrosse practice Thursday evening.
Our girls have had a literal front row seat to the decisions and professional changes I have made over the last two years. Watching them listen to my voice, and put into words, what this blogging journey and the launching of my home decorating business has felt like internally, and looked like externally was special. They have seen me lean SO heavily on my faith in order to help me follow the breadcrumbs of this new path…and for that alone I am so grateful.
Let’s just say it was misty in the car while listening to my interview on the podcast.
And then?
Then on Friday, I announced on Facebook here, this crazy thing I said “yes” to –
Agreeing to be a dancer in this year’s “Dancing for the Arts” ballroom gala to support the Maryland Center for the Arts. I chatted briefly on FB live and gave all the details on this crazy thing I said “yes” to and then on Saturday, I wrote this post on WHY I said “yes” to this big scary thing and “The little mantra that is making a big difference” in my life right now.
So yes, last week was a big week and in more exciting news?
I have another fun announcement for our local readers!

Now?
Are you ready to see my Simple Easter Centerpiece and the simple steps of how I put it together? Plus, get inspiration for your own Spring dining room decor?
Follow me friend!
It all started with these sweet bunnies that a dear old neighbor gifted me years ago, because she and I both share a love for all things bunnies.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6405-768x1024.jpg)
Yes, it’s true, I decorated the nursery for all three of our babies in all the bunnies. I wanted to be surprised for each birth, so we never found out if we were having a boy or a girl when I was pregnant…all I knew was that this baby better love bunnies. 🙂
The only problem with these sweet bunnies is as cute as they were?
They didn’t quite fit my current decor vibe.
Can you guess what I did with them?
If you have been around here for any length of time, then you already know what happened to these two bunny babies of mine.

![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6408-768x1024.jpg)
To steal a line from Britney, Oops! I did it again.
Sorry not sorry.
I love my gold spray paint.
In fact, I have a history of spraying bunnies as evidenced here in this Spring decor post from last year.
These oversized bunnies are just what I needed as my focal point for my soon to be Easter centerpiece.
(Don’t have larger bunnies to spray paint? I have linked the cutest oversized green moss bunnies as well as several various decor items at the bottom of this post to help you replicate this centerpiece.)
How To Create An Easter Centerpiece & Spring Dining Room Decor
First things first.
Before, you start to create your centerpiece, you want to have a clean table and cleared away space to decorate.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6410-768x1024.jpg)
Then, I started by placing my first foundational piece, which is this Easter table runner from Home Goods.
![This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is how-to-make-an-easter-centerpiece-easter-decor-769x1024.jpg](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/how-to-make-an-easter-centerpiece-easter-decor-769x1024.jpg)
Next, I placed my second foundational piece for which all the remaining decor will sit on, which was a large silver tray.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/how-to-decorate-an-easter-table-spring-tablescape-768x1024.jpg)
I love using this silver tray because it has sentimental value as we received it from a dear friend as a wedding gift.
And?
Using this tray, makes it easy if I need to clear off the table for any reason for the girls, I can simply pick up the tray and all the Easter decor goes with it.
Next, I placed a wooden chippy riser from a local decor market and set it on the tray, as far left as it would go.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/how-to-make-a-spring-tablescape-dining-room-decor-768x1024.jpg)
After the three foundational pieces were placed, table runner, tray and riser, I added a strand of faux leafy garland and gently laid it around the tray, making a big circle loop.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6415-768x1024.jpg)
Next up?
I placed my first newly spray painted gold bunny on the riser and tied my go-to favorite fringe ribbon around it’s neck.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/how-to-create-an-easter-centerpiece-for-your-dining-table-768x1024.jpg)
Now tell me you don’t love that bunny spray painted gold?
Do you know what’s better than a spray painted gold bunny?
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6420_jpg-768x1024.jpg)
TWO spray painted gold bunnies! 🙂
After I placed the revived pink bunnies facing each other on the tray, it was time to layer in a few smaller decor elements to finish the centerpiece.
I placed a stack of crystal small plates on the back of the tray in between the bunnies to serve as a makeshift riser and add more depth to the tray.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Easy-Easter-centerpiece-diy-768x1024.jpg)
Once the plate stack was in place as my riser, I laid this bunch of faux floral stems from Michael’s on top of the plates.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6422_jpg-768x1024.jpg)
(I bought my faux floral bunch in person at Michael’s, they come in a variety of colors.)
You could also use this bunch of faux thistle.
I placed a jar candle that I picked up from the Target Dollar Spot in the front center of the centerpiece.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/easter-centerpiece-decor-spring-decorating-tips-home-with-heather-768x1024.jpg)
Last but not least?
I finished off the centerpiece with a hand full of this reindeer moss at the tall bunny’s feet and sprinkled small sized eggs around the tray.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/easter-centerpiece-how-to-create-a-easter-table-setting-768x1024.jpg)
There we have it…spray painted bunny’s turned stars of the show to this Easter Centerpiece.

![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6425_jpg-768x1024.jpg)
I am just loving how this Easter centerpiece came together and I am hoping it has inspired you to shop your own home for items you already have and use this simple step by step layering technique to create your own Easter Centerpiece!
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/home-with-heather-easter-dining-room-decor-768x1024.jpg)
Do you want to know something funny?
I don’t host Easter. 🙂
My sweet Mom does.
But?
I am excited to pick up this tray and walk five houses up the street to Grandma’s house for easter brunch!
(Yes – God is amazing and provided a way for my Mom to move up the street from us a few years ago and we all love it!)
Do you want to see the rest of the dining room decorated for Easter?
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/home-with-heather-spring-decor-easter-table-scape-768x1024.jpg)
Yes, the Easter that I am not hosting…but still love to celebrate Spring all season long…
Because?
Bunnies.
Give me a reason to decorate with bunnies and I will give you a reason to fall in love all over again with bunnies.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6449-768x1024.jpg)
I spy with my little eye…
7 bunnies in the picture above.
Have an Easter basket on had?
Place another strand of faux leafy garland in the bottom of it instead of the traditional Easter grass and then place two bunnies of varying heights inside it.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6436_jpg-768x1024.jpg)
I used two tiny dishes and placed them upside down and set them inside this Easter basket and then placed the two bunnies on top of each dish to give them more height and visibility.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6450-768x1024.jpg)
Noticing a theme to my Spring dining room decor?
I decorate with a lot of faux stems and strands of faux leafy garland.
I am still loving my thrift store vase that I painted, on the mantel along with these faux cherry blossom stems.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/IMG_6448-769x1024.jpg)
Oh look!
Another spray painted bunny!
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/spring-decorating-ideas-1-768x1024.jpg)
Fun fact?
This gold mirror used to hang in our powder room, that is still undergoing a facelift.
I kept moving it around and out of the way…while we are in project mode…
Until?
Until, I decided to lay it horizontally (it used to hang vertically in the powder room)
And now?
I am kind of loving it resting here on the cabinet in the dining room.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/spring-decor-easter-decorating-ideas-768x1024.jpg)
Ok my friend, I hope this post helped put a hop in your Spring decorating!
Remember! If you get stuck decorating…it might be because you are using too many items.
And?
You might be using too many small items.
Less is more, use the faux stems and don’t forget your spray paint to revive older decor!
Happy Easter decorating!
Living on a prayer,
Heather
God,
I praise you for every door that you have opened and every door you have prompted me to gently close. As the season of Spring opens up, I pray that you would help us to open up our hearts more to you and draw us in, closer to you.
Amen.
