Right after I get up from this spot and soak in all of my snuggle puppy quiet time in the morning…I usually go for a morning run.
I say usually..because…you know…I am human and there are days when I don’t run.
This past Monday morning was one of those “I really don’t feel like running” days.
But?
I dug in deep, tied double knots in my running shoes, hit play on the podcast app and headed down the driveway.
And then?
Just as I rounded the corner and Tony Evans was getting dialed into preacher mode on his podcast.
I saw this.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_1626-768x1024.jpg)
Without skipping a beat, I plucked this discarded table up with both hands, left on the side of the road for bulk trash pick up and hauled her home and snapped this pic.
And then?
I kept running.
I am so glad I went on that run I didn’t feel like going on.
This pretty rattan, glass-top beauty sat in the garage for the rest of the day as I contemplated in my head…oh the places she could go.
A day later, I gave her a bath of windex and Clorox wipes, and dressed her up with flowers and fragrance.
And now?
She is currently taking a test drive in this room.

So far, she is holding up under the pass / fail pressure and things are looking like they are going in her favor to stick around for a bit in this coastal home office.
One thing I know for sure?
Her price was right.

We just never know what we are going to stumble across when we walk outside our door every morning do we?
So many questions, decisions, forks in the road…
Sometimes, being willing to try something, even if we aren’t sure where we are going or what exactly we are doing when we get there…can pay off.
The secret?
Willingness to trust our instincts to guide us into the next right move.
I love putting the puzzle pieces of life & home together…one next right decision at a time.
The process takes time and is sometimes uncomfortable.
But…inside the uncomfortable…there is peace waiting to opened, in the knowing you are headed in the right direction when you follow your God-given instincts.
It’s been 5 months since I launched Home with Heather Interior Styling & Consulting and stepped down from my founding leader and executive coach role at my former company.
A capital L, LARGE leap of faith, followed by an honest trust walk, after saying yes to the many God nudges and soul whispers waking up in my heart.
I can not even begin to tell you how much fun I am having following my God-given instincts and passion with my clients.
Today, I am excited to share with you a roundup of 4 lovely, real life client homes, whom I have had the pleasure to work with and help decorate their unique spaces.
Are you ready to soak in some inspiring home decor before and after pictures?
Oh good.
Follow me friend.
Meet Maureen’s home.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_7105-1024x768.jpg)
Like many families this past year, Maureen turned a room in her home into a homeschool space where her twins could attend virtual school and focus on learning.
Maureen had a general idea and vision of what she wanted.
There was just one problem.
She was having trouble making her Pinterest pins come to life in her own home.
After our Home with Heather consult, I created this 3D mood board design.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/hwh-mood-board-design-home-with-heather.jpg)
This was one mood board design that served as our “jumping off point” to brainstorm and create a new sitting room for entertaining.
Here is the current state of Maureen’s space.

(Maureen may still add finishing touch decor, such as lamps on the console table.)
Remember what this room looked like before?

I think it’s come a long way from homeschool classroom don’t you?
Here is another panoramic view that Maureen sent to me.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_1397-1024x546.jpg)
Thank you Maureen for these kind words!
“I highly recommended working with Heather! I had a vision and she helped it come to life and then some! Heather was knowledgeable and professional and super easy to talk to. She knew exactly what would work for us and our space. Our room is now a place we can unwind and relax. Thank you, Heather!! We love it!”

Meet Amanda’s Home
Amanda’s home is new and BEAUTIFUL.
Everything about it is lovely, just like Amanda.
There was just one problem.
Amanda had an empty room.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_0456-768x1024.jpg)
Do you ever get stuck with how to decorate a room, or are you unsure of what furniture to buy or how to make use of the space you have?
You are not alone.
Even better?
I am confident that I can help you move from stuck and overwhelmed and into thrilled and excited…this is exactly why I launched by HwH business – to help answer this need.
Back to Amanda.
Amanda has great taste.
She had already replaced this chandelier and painted the accent wall black to create drama before I arrived.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/black-accent-wall-dining-room-1-768x1024.jpg)
Amanda knew she wanted to use this room for entertaining guests and did not want a formal dining room.
She had already installed a bar counter with floating shelves on the far left wall. Now, it was time to fill the empty room.
And?
She was stuck.
During our HWH consult, I suggested leather chairs, as I helped her imagine a masculine entertainment room for her husband to unwind in or gather for some “guy-talk.”
We did a quick search online, during our 1 hour consult and we found these chairs and I suggested this faux olive tree. We measured and discussed general layout of the room for the seating and overall use of how the room would be used.
(You can find the accent pillows pictured below from Amazon here.)
(More products linked at the bottom of this post. Chandelier is from Forest Hill Lighting locally.)
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/home-with-heather-sitting-room-decor-target-4-768x1024.jpg)
Finding these chairs and imagining the layout in our minds allowed for what I referred to as a “his and hers” set of rooms for entertaining guests.
Amanda already has a more feminine room with a soft sofa sitting area directly across from this room on the opposite side of her entryway.
Amanda was kind enough to send me a few more pictures, after she was “un-stuck” and continued to shop on her own after our HwH Consult.

Thank you Amanda for allowing me to feature your beautiful home today and for these kind words:
“Such a wonderful experience working with Heather Krout! She created a beautifully decorated room for our family that reflects our style in ways we never could have imagined. She remains on budget, yet goes out of her way to accommodate. We still have some more to do, but without Heather I would still be sitting on Pinterest for hours trying to figure out where to start. Don’t hesitate to reach out to her for any of your decorating needs, no matter how small!”

Meet Tiffany’s Home.
Tiffany recently moved into a gorgeous home.
There was just one problem.
Tiffany had zero time to think about how to decorate her new home, let alone shop the endless options, due to her super demanding job and hectic season of life,
When I came to Tiffany’s house for our HwH consult, I snapped these pictures.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_7301-1024x768.jpg)
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_7298-768x1024.jpg)
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_7310-1024x785.jpg)
After our consult, Tiffany decided to add-on the additional services of both 3D and collage mood board designs and curated shopping boutique lists to save her time shopping the endless options online herself.
Through the inspiration of the mood boards, along with several back and forth conversations regarding decor suggestions and considerations…
Tiffany’s new house slowly transformed into her new HOME.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/design-board.jpg)
And now?
This room…
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_7301-1-1024x768.jpg)
Looks like this:
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_5960-1024x768.jpg)
Here are a few suggestions for this room that I made to Tiffany during our consult and decorating process:
- Replace the rug with a larger rug. The room would benefit with a larger, more neutral rug for the entire sofa to fit on.
- Add MANY neutral throw pillows for cozy factor.
- Add round tray to coffee table.
- Move the sofa back a little bit so that it will not sit in the dead center of the room.
- Add bookcases to either side of the doorway to create symmetry and depth to the blank walls.
- Replace the tree in the corner with a “lighter branch” faux tree to soften the corner.
Here is another view with more changes:
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_7298-1-768x1024.jpg)
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_5959-769x1024.jpg)
Here are the edits from this view:
- Console table and stools added behind the sofa for easy seating for her kids to eat and watch TV.
- Tiffany painted the cabinet to the left of the fireplace white.
- Addition of MANY faux plants, to the left of the console table and right of the fireplace along with candle sticks.
- If you look closely at the far left of the “After” picture you will see the addition of entryway decor including console table, round mirror, lamp, woven baskets and yes more faux plants for texture and color.
Tiffany also knew she did not want a formal dining room and was preparing to host a large Graduation party for her daughter and needed inspiration for this room:
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_7310-1-1024x785.jpg)
After our consult, mood board inspiration and curated shopping list, Tiffany’s old formal dining room space now looks like this.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/home-with-heather-cozy-sitting-room-921x1024.jpg)
Edits & mood board made for this room:
- Empty the room. (Sell or donate old furniture not being used so you have a blank slate.)
- Replace the chandelier.
- New rug, chairs, rattan ottoman and console table. (Most products are linked at the bottom of the post.)
- Tiffany kept her rectangular mirror which works with her new console table

Thank you Tiffany for inviting me into your new house and hiring me to help you style it! Congratulations on your new home!
Last but definitely not least…
Meet Debbie’s Home.
Debbie is adjusting to life as an empty nester.
This Mom is on the go taking advantage of travel again and staying busy with her two work from home businesses.
There was just one problem.
Debbie had an empty bedroom upstairs that was making her sad.
Ever since the bedroom had been vacated by her oldest after graduating from college, Debbie would get a little twinge of nostalgia when she walked by.
When I arrived to Debbie’s home for our HwH consult, the empty bedroom looked like this.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IMG_8793-1024x768.jpg)
A clean fresh slate waiting to be re-purposed and Debbie had just the idea of what she wanted to use it for.
With two thriving work from businesses that she loved, Debbie was craving a space to call her own and she was ready to move her makeshift office out of the dining room downstairs.
Debbie decided that she wanted to add on the additional mood board design service with curated shopping boutique list because, while she had the vision of what she wanted the room to be used for she was also stuck on how to begin to transform it.
I sent Debbie her mood board designs and Debbie threw herself into transforming the bedroom that once made her sad when she walked by into a space she would love and enjoy while she worked passionately.

Now, the sad empty bedroom is her new happy home office.
The room is still in the process of coming together with final touches such as woven shades waiting to be hung, etc. Thank you Debbie for sending me this “after” picture update and for sharing these kind words:
“When my oldest moved out after graduating from college, I sat staring at her empty bedroom for months. Every time I walked by that empty room, I missed her so much. I knew I had to do something with it…and I had an idea in my head to create some type of in-home boutique for my Stella & Dot and Savvi businesses. But I felt paralyzed. I just couldn’t put together what I wanted to do. I finally reached out to Heather…and wow!! Really no words! She came over, spent some time chatting with me about my “vision”…spent some time in that empty, blank canvas room…and said to give her a couple days.”
“The next day not only had Heather put together several of the most gorgeous vision boards…but each board had links to every single item she recommended! She made it SO EASY for this very non creative gal to put together what is quickly becoming my favorite room in the house! It is still not 100% complete…but we are getting so close and I am absolutely in love with everything Heather recommended! Not only did she give me some amazing ideas to work with, but she has been available the entire time to answer my questions, give alternative ideas when something wasn’t quite working for me, etc. I have a feeling I will be hiring Heather to help me “recreate” more rooms in my house in the very near future!”
