Last year, I broke up the Christmas home tour into a few different blog posts sharing all kinds of details, as we participated in an actual in person Holiday Home Tour for our community, which was so fun to be invited to be a part of!
I shared my Christmas Home Office HERE, our Christmas Living Room & Porch HERE and MORE cozy Christmas spaces HERE.
And now?

21 EASY Christmas Last Minute Decorating Ideas
1. Add a cozy layer to your everyday seating!
Above, I added this, still in stock, faux fur rug in size 2×3 in the color beige from Amazon to our swivel chairs.
You might recall in this recent post, I shared this new gallery wall and more of this “Cozy Corner All Decorated For Christmas.”
Now, give an eye to the chandelier above our dining table…
Now, take a look at that same chandelier in the picture below.
2. Add ribbon to everything!
From light fixtures to the tree branches, to the top of lanterns!
Ribbon makes everything feel softer and more cheerful!
I used this fringe chiffon ribbon from Amazon to loosely tie on our chandelier, around the neck of the centerpiece vase and in several other places!
3. Bring on the twinkle!
I have groupings of flameless taper candles on almost every table surface!
Taper Candles Beige With Remote // Similar Gold Candle Holders // Metal House lantern // Wall Mirror
I just ordered and LOVE these flameless taper candles in color beige from Amazon, pictured above.
I also have these highly rated taper candles in ivory, and keep them on our mantel all year round!
4. Add Winter themed art prints to your mantel and walls!
Vintage Pine Tree Art Print // Natural Poster Frame // Fire Place Screen // Ivory Taper Candles // Similar Mirror
I ordered this Vintage Pine print from Collections Prints in size 30×40 and framed it in this 27×30 Target Poster frame by trimming the sided just a teeny bit.
I love that this tree art print will work as seasonal decor well beyond Christmas and into the New Year!
You might remember that I also swapped out the art work in our living room, for more Winter themed art to put in the Target frames on our picture ledge gallery wall.
You can see more of the living room decorated for Christmas HERE and find details on how Shawn built this simple board & batten picture ledge wall HERE in this post.

5. Add Twinkle Trees to brighten up corners and tables!
In the picture above I have two of these pre-lit birch twinkle trees from Amazon, one 3 ft size and one 5 ft size.
You can see how I “potted” and placed these pre-lit twinkle trees into these gold planter pots from Target and opted not to use the original tree stands that they came with, HERE in this post.
6. Place bottle brush trees in unexpected places.
Above, I paired two taller bottle brush trees inside an oversized lantern to create some interest at the bottom of our new Elegant Fir Christmas Tree from Home Depot.
And here, I placed a bottle brush tree inside a Santa Mug, above our festive drink station.
7. Add bells to your mantel Christmas garland.
Linking Gold Bells HERE // HERE // HERE
Last year, I went into detail on how I get this full and layered look on our mantel, you can see it HERE in this post.
I loved this look of our asymmetrical Christmas garland so much last year…
That I repeated the asymmetrical garland look again this year, and just added gold bells on the left side!
(I moved the dining chairs out of the way, so you could see it better.) 🙂
8. Add Christmas greetings to a chalkboard.
We had this chalkboard door installed YEARS ago from Home Depot and I have been so grateful we made this tiny change!
This door leads to the basement and because it is right next to the door that leads to the garage, I love that this chalkboard door can be a place for ART versus looking at two boring doors side by side. 🙂
Don’t have a chalkboard door? Just use a small chalkboard on an easel to display a Christmas message to your guests on your kitchen counter!
9. Add wreaths in unexpected places!
Add mini wreaths to the backs of chairs or counter stools with an ornament hook or ribbon!
Add matching wreaths to the INSIDE of your doors and windows!
Counter Stools // Kitchen Runner Rug // Rug Gripper Pads
Add wreaths over top picture frames like I did here in this cozy corner.
If you look closely at the bottom of the picture above, you will see a watercolor painting of my childhood home covered in a fresh blanket of snow, where my Dad still lives on a Christmas tree farm. 🙂
Add a wreath over top a wall art canvas!
10. Mix the old with the new!
My Mom grew up drinking egg nog out of these Christmas Santa mugs that I have purposefully displayed in the large apothecary jar, so that they stay in tact! 🙂
Tree Drink Dispenser – Goes in & out of stock, red still available!
I love mixing vintage decor with the new decor, like we’ve done here with the new tree drink dispensers to create a festive drink station.
I shared all of my EASY holiday party snack ideas and hosting tips HERE in this post.
Below, I am mixing vintage Reindeer candle holders from a local antique store with new holiday florals (sold out from Target) and Dollar Store votive candle holders!
11. Use drinkware and serving bowls as decor
Mixing my old with new again here, as this light up Santa Clause was the ONE THING I wanted from my Mom when I had my first home to decorate for Christmas! I spent many years staring at that Santa from our kitchen table.
12. Add mini trees to glass boxes and clear vases.
13. Use a page from a holiday magazine as art for frames.
I have a subscription to the Magnolia Journal and I LOVE IT!
I briefly flipped through and spotted this page and decided it would make for a perfect small art print to go into my Target frame as holiday shelf decor.
Ta da!!!

14. Fill a bowl with greens and layer with ornaments.
15. Frame a “Truth For Today” card by artist, Emily Lex.
I love these Truth for Today cards by Emily Lex.
She offers both a Christmas box set as well as a set for every day. These little card box sets are a perfect gift idea and they also make great gift toppers on top a package for someone special!
16. Add green branch stems to a vase in the entryway.
Green Branch Stems // Set of 3 Gold Bells // Sugar House Art Print By Lindsay Letters
Love these affordable green branch stems from Amazon. I added them to a thrift store vase that I painted and stuck in a few extra green stems that I had left over from years past.
One of my favorite NEW decorations that I tried this year was using these pre lit branches from Amazon and sticking them into our Norfolk Pine Garland, that I hung with nails around the door frame leading to our living room!
I shared more details about how I used these pre lit branches and more pics of our entryway decor along with my DIY swag that I made above the round mirror, HERE in this post,
17. Use a decorative bowl as an easy place to display your Christmas cards & also serves as decor.
18. Use paper star lanterns to create a cozy bedroom.
Paper Lanterns on Amazon HERE, HERE and HERE
Last year I used 3 of these paper star lanterns to decorate Eve’s teen bedroom.
This year, I bought her a new rose gold flocked Christmas tree for her bedroom, which I shared HERE in this post.
So, we hung two star lanterns above her bed.
Notice I used the layering wall art with a wreath decorating tip in here too! 🙂
19. Place a table top tree on your bedroom nightstands.
20. Lay a strand of Christmas garland on your headboard.
21. Enjoy the twinkle of an undecorated tree in your bedroom!
End of Bed Bench // Exact Pinch Pleat Curtains, Rod, Rings & Shade // Ceiling Fan
The best thing about having this Christmas tree upstairs in our bedroom, is that when Shawn and I are on a walk in the evenings and we start to head home, we can see the twinkle of the tree through the upstairs windows!
Makes me so grateful we have a cozy and twinkly home to go inside to!
I hope this post was helpful and inspirational to you as you navigate through these busy days of hosting, shopping and decorating!
Remember, we each hold our own power to choose “Process and Peace Over Pressure” every day…
Here’s to keeping our eyes fixed on the reason for the season…together.
Living on a prayer,
Heather
