How To Hang Garland On A Staircase
1. Gather your garland
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG_0726-1024x768.jpg)
I am convinced the key to making garland more beautiful is two twist two different types of garland together.
For my staircase and for hanging above my round mirror in the entry way, I decided to use this faux seeded eucalyptus garland wrapped around my favorite Real Touch NorFolk Pine Garland that I shared HERE back in October. Sadly the Real Touch Norfolk Pine Garland from Afloral is sold out (we knew that was going to happen). However, HERE is a similar garland.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG_0285-768x1024.jpg)
2. Loop the ends of the garland together.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG_0727-768x1024.jpg)
In this case, I was able to bend the end of the eucalyptus garland and feed it through the loop at the end of the Afloral garland.
3. Wrap the more thin strand of garland around the heavier garland.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG_0729-768x1024.jpg)
Next comes the GAME Changer Command Hook Moment.
4. Attach one of the Command Hook Cable Bundlers To the wall and feed the loop of garland through it.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG_0730-768x1024.jpg)
5. Weave and wrap the garland around the staircase.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG_0731-768x1024.jpg)
On my staircase I used two strands of each garland and when I was ready to start the next strands of garland I simply slid and tucked the loop underneath the end of the first strands of garland.
6. Add a bow or wood bead garland or a set of battery operated string lights for EXTRA texture and whimsy.

I ordered this rosewood velvet ribbon in the 4 cm size from Etsy and LOVE it.
Start by tying it around the top of the banister in order to make a bow in the front.

![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG_0766-768x1024.jpg)
I also added another bow towards the top of the garland and on the small wreath, hanging over the mini gallery wall.

Don’t mind the crooked pictures.
In case you haven’t heard?
Perfect is overrated. 🙂
In even better Christmas decorating news?
The casing for the battery operated string lights FITS inside the command hook cord bundler!
Bonus for the cord bundler that became Christmas garland game changer! 🙂

Starting with?
This super cute metal tin house from Michael’s that is on SALE right now for under $18!

There was just one problem.
The black roof did not quite fit into my entry way decor.
I know that you already know…what happened next.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG_0538-768x1024.jpg)
Yep.
The little house received a roof repair in the form of a spritz from the can of my favorite gold spray paint.
And now?
Now, we have this.

If you can’t tell from the two pictures above…
I’m still deciding between which bowl of ornaments I like best on this entry way console table. 🙂
Opinions welcome in the comments!
But regardless of which bowl of Christmas ornaments goes next to this cute tin house…I am in love with this mental house lantern that is on sale right now and how this diffuser from Target fits perfectly inside it.
It takes Christmas cozy to an entirely new level and the chimney looks like smoke is coming out of it at night!

Here is how I hung the same garland over the mirror.
![](https://heatherkrout.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG_0317-768x1024.jpg)
I used the same method as the staircase of wrapping two strands of garland together and used the same velvet ribbon in order to keep a cohesive aesthetic in this small space.
But here, I used several of these small wire toggle hooks on the wall to hang the garland on.

Topped off with this super sweet metal hanging bell cluster.

The brass candle holders are from my favorite shop, Cocalico Creek in Lancaster, PA.
Linking a similar candle holder set HERE. As well as linking all of the sources from this entry way and staircase view at the bottom of this post.
There you have it friend.
The easy way to hang garland on a staircase, and on the mantel (see you back here Saturday for pictures of the mantel and more) and also on the wall above a mirror!
And now you know what the view is when you walk through our Christmas home.

Always love putting this small stool next to the tree for a easy spot to collect our Christmas cards.
Now hurry and grab yourself the super cute tin house lantern and the diffuser that fits perfectly inside of it before they sell out!
Living on a prayer,
Heather
Love this! I always dread hanging my garland on the railing because it’s difficult to get it to stay, and how I want it. I can’t wait to try this! I like the second picture of ornaments, they had more gold. It tied some of the other things together better. Made everything more cohesive.
Thanks Casie!! I am so glad that this was helpful to you! And LOVE your thoughts on the bowl with ornaments! Agree 100% – going with your suggestion! Thank you!!
Love it ..Enjoy your visitors.
Thank you Melinda! You should stop by! I would love to see you!! XO, Heather
